Boris Schran, founding partner of Peakside Capital, says: "Since starting his career with us in 2013, Simon Lutz has managed investments with a total volume of over 1 billion euros. He has demonstrated exceptional skills and commitment, from deal sourcing to the implementation of a large number of investments in our PREF II and III funds. We are very pleased that we can now bring him on board as a next generation partner.”

Simon Lutz, Partner at Peakside Capital, adds: "I am delighted to have been able to play an active role in shaping Peakside since the opening of the Frankfurt office and am excited to shape the company to an even greater extent in the future as a partner. My focus will continue to be on investing and implementing the business plan for our PREF fund series as well as working with founders Boris Schran and Stefan Aumann to advance the company itself.”

Prior to his start at Peakside, Simon Lutz attained a Master's degree (M.Sc.) in Real Estate from the University of Regensburg (IREBS) and a second M.Sc. in Real Estate from the University of Reading (Henley Business School).

Nikhil Gupta becomes Managing Director

Nikhil Gupta will also be promoted to Managing Director as of 1 April. He is Head of Portfolio Management and responsible for the portfolio management of the Peakside Real Estate Fund series. Prior to joining Peakside in 2010, he was part of the M&A team at Rothschild & Co Investment Bank in Paris.

Stefan Aumann, founding partner of Peakside Capital, says: "After another record year with almost 1.2 billion euros in transactions, we are broadening our management team despite the currently tense situation. With Nikhil Gupta, who was one of our first employees in our Zug office in Switzerland, we will also be celebrating our tenth anniversary in 2020.”

Further promotions and outlook

In addition, Maximilian Baumann and Julian Hilbert were appointed associates. Both work in the Frankfurt office.

Boris Schran continues: "We remain confident about our future development, on the one hand due to our solidly positioned portfolio and on the other hand due to the extensive divestments and profit-taking that we were able to realize before the COVID-19 pandemic. Real estate investments in Germany will soon become a safe haven investment again, especially in the office, logistics and residential sectors. We expect market opportunities from the current market distortions."
